WWII Army Flak Officer's Visor Cap

WWII Army Flak Officer's Visor Cap - This fine quality cap has three rows of red piping, with the body of the cap fabricated from a gray wool, featuring the classic high peak and rounded saddle-shaped sides. It has a wool forest green band around its circumference, which supports a three-piece constructed aluminum cockade on the front. The cockade has a painted black base incorporating a silvered ring and red felt centre, surrounded by a silver wreathing. Immediately above on the crown is an aluminum Germany Army (Heer) cap eagle insignia, which features very intricate detail. The visor is black vulcanfibre with a silver bullion cord above, in two rows, knotted in the appropriate-style on the sides and held in position via pebbled gilt posts on both sides. The underside of the visor is synthetic, crosshatched and finished in tan. The tan headband is leather, stamped with a "Deutsche Leder" insignia on the left side, with the two ends tied together at the seam with a white ribbon. The dome itself has a tan rayon liner, with a clear moisture shield over the faded manufacturers name stamped in silver ink, with only "patent" still legible and is unnamed. Overall, it measures 250 mm x 275 mm x 162 mm in height. The cap has experience minor crazing in the vulcanfibre visor, light sweat staining on the headband, light fabric wear on the forest green band on either side of the cockade, one interruption in the lower row of red piping towards the rear, light contact on the eagle insignia, along with cracking of partial loss of the clear moisture shield. However, it continues to exhibit smooth quality in the wool, plus quality workmanship, very clean and free of staining, maintaining its original period look, near extremely fine.
