This is a unique and certainly one-of-a-kind Sudetenland Reichsnährstand “Blut und Boden” Breed Selection Office III sign. It is crafted of turquoise bakelite with four rivets, one at each “pole” for attachment. The sign reads “Landesbauernschaft Sudetenland Köramt III” on the obverse, with the reverse left blank. The disc measures 128 mm in diameter and is in overall very fine condition, with a crack near the “9 o’clock” position, and being sun faded.
Footnote: The Reichsnährstand was a government body during the Third Reich period to regulate food production. It was split into three elements: 1) The Human - responsible for the ideological upbringing and monitoring of children of farmers, 2) The Farm - responsible for the efficient production of food, 3) The Market - responsible for the distribution of food according to supply and demand, as well as the manipulation of prices. The Köramt of the Landesbauernschaft “Union of the Farmers” was responsible for choosing select breeds of animals to nourish the Reich.
