The document states that the king of Bavaria, Ludwig III, has awarded the Military Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords to Vizefeldwebel (vice sergeant) Paul Fischer of the Landwehr in Infantry Regiment 16 on December 6, 1917. It is dated to Munich on December 18, 1917 and carries a facsimile of the order’s lord high chancellor and Bavarian minister of war, Philipp von Hellingrath (1862–1939). Measuring 209x329mm, near very fine condition with light scuffing and fraying, and multiple folding creases.
