Verdienstzeichen des Österreichischen Bundesfeuerwehrverbandes (ÖBFV), consisting of 1) A Gold Grade Distinguished Service Medal, a cross in bronze gilt and fine enamels with flames between the arms of the cross, with a coat of arms, the reverse inscribed “ÖBFV”, on a loop for suspension, with its period original ribbon - with a collector’s tag on the reverse; measuring 36.91 mm x 46.98 mm; weighing 19.5 grams with its ribbon, as well as its original wrapping paper. 2) A Silver Grade Distinguished Service Medal, a cross in silvered bronze and fine enamels with flames between the arms of the cross, with a coat of arms, the reverse inscribed “ÖBFV”, on a loop for suspension, with its period original ribbon - with a collector’s tag on the reverse; measuring 36.98 mm x 46.97 mm; weighing 19.2 grams with its ribbon; in overall virtually mint condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
