Austria, Empire. A War Cross for Civil Merit, III Class
Four-piece construction, in silver with white enamels, Austrian hallmarked with a Diana's head (Dianakopf) (which was used between 1872 and 1922), the head flanked by the number "2" (.900 silver fineness) on the left and the assay city mark "A" (Vienna), city marked with an "A" (Vienna) in seven locations (five on the badge and one of the pin), and maker marked in three locations with a capital "W" (two on the badge and one of the pin), measuring 44.5 mm (w) x 44.8 mm (h), vertical pinback, intact enamels, broken catch, residue evident on the reverse of the arm at 3 o'clock, very light contact, better than very fine.
