France, Republic. An Antique French Sword Brooch With A Rooster Head Pommel In Yellow Gold & Diamonds, C.1900

(Jewellery, Brooches). Antique. A bar brooch in the shape of a French rapier with a rooster head pommel in solid 14kt gold. The sword is set with 77 round cut diamonds throughout, weighing approximately 1.5ct. It is also set with 14 garnets, one of which is cut in a pear shape, as well as one round pearl and one round cut emerald. All gems are better than average quality. The reverse bears a horizontal pin with a trombone or push-pull catch. The brooch is marked 14K on the reverse. Measuring 130.73mm (l) x 43mm (w) and weighing 20.8 grams. The stones are all intact, functional pin and catch, light wear, overall a unique decoration in extremely fine condition.
