Canada, CEF. A First War Medal Pair to Pte. Keeton, Canadian Machine Gun Battalion
A Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, rim impressed 175208 PTE. E. KEETON. C.M.G. BDE., worn on original ribbon, light gilt wear on reverse, remains in extremely fine condition.
A War Medal, in silver, rim impressed 175208 PTE. E. KEETON. C.M.G. BDE., worn on original ribbon, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition.
A Canadian Machine Gun Corps Battalion Cap Badge, bronze, maple leaf style design, one lug on reverse (one broken off but included with lot), measures 53.5mm (w) x 45mm (h), lovely patina, in near very fine condition.
A Canadian Machine Gun Corps Battalion Collar Tab, bronze, two lugs on reverse with pin, measures 32.5mm (w) x 30.1mm (h), in very fine condition.
Accompanied by a printed copy of his attestation and personnel file.

Edgar Keeton was born in Worksop, England on May 7, 1892. He was employed as a saddler and belonged to the 44th regiment when he enlisted for the war on August 25, 1915 in Welland, Ontario. He served with the 2nd Canadian Machine Gun Battalion.
In April 1916, he spent 6 days in the Military Hospital in Hamilton for a sprained ankle. In January 1919, he was treated for pneumonia, spending 11 days in the hospital.
He served in France and Belgium, and was discharged on April 25, 1919, in Hamilton Ontario due to demobilization.
