Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Officer's Badge; 1939-1945 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence Medal; Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Clasp; War Medal 1939-1945 with bronze MID Oak Leaf; Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal 1953; and Canadian Forces' Decoration (LT-COL. C.A. SIMMONS). Naming is engraved on the reverse of the suspension bar on the CFD, the other awards are un-named as issued. The first eight awards are mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, while the CFD is independent and without pinback. Lightly soiled original ribbons, extremely fine.
Footnote: Captain (Acting Major) Cyril Albert Simmons, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps was Mentioned in Despatches, "in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Italy", the announcement appearing in the Supplement of the London Gazette 36679 of Tuesday, August 29, 1944, on Thursday, August 31, 1944, page 4054. He was subsequently awarded the bronze MID Oak Leaf to wear on the ribbon of the War Medal 1939-1945.
