A Memorial Cross, in silver, full size, reverse engraved 425666 PTE. C.W.J. STORRY, reverse is marked STERLING on the 6 o’clock arm, light wear, very fine.
A Memorial Cross, in silver, full size, reverse engraved 425666 PTE. C.W.J. STORRY, reverse is partially marked STE [sterling] on the 6 o’clock arm, worn on a full length purple ribbon. light wear, very fine.
Both crosses are contained in original case, black leatherette exterior, with crown on lid, silk and velvet interior, measures 65 mm (w) x 87 mm (l) x 20 mm (d), functional hinge and good seal, very fine.
Footnote: Cedric William Jubb Storry was born in York, England in 1889. He was employed as a Bank Clerk when he enlisted with the 45th Battalion on October 4, 1915 in Winnipeg.
He arrived in England via the S.S. Lapland in March 1916. He was taken on strength by the 31st Battalion in the field in May. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and left leg in mid July was considered dangerously ill while at No. 17 Casualty Clearing station. Storry died of wounds (intestinal obstruction) on July 12, 1916.
A Memorial cross was issued to both his wife and mother.
