Description
(Nishan-I-Taj-I-Iran). Instituted in 1900 (c. 1950). Constructed of silver gilt and multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a five-pointed white and green enamelled Maltese star with ball finials and with multiple rays protruding from the center of the award between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a central medallion bearing an ornate crown in a field of light-blue enamels, surrounded by a ring decorated with a green enamelled laurel and oak wreath, the reverse with a large light blue enamelled central medallion depicting a sun bearing a central face with multiple rays of sunshine emanating from the center, suspended from a green enamelled oval swivel wreath of laurel and oak leaves with a pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension, marked on the suspension ring denoting AB & Cie (Arthus Bertrand) and 800 silver fineness, measuring 45.7 mm (w) x 65.3 mm (h), weighing 32.80 grams, worn on an aged and similar ribbon to that of the order, enamel chips to the corners of the arms, residue on the arms, a decoration in near very fine condition.
