Description

(Kraljevski jugoslavenski spomen ratni križ). Institution date undetermined. Three-piece construction, in silvered and gilt bronze with red, white and blue enamels, measuring 51.5 mm (w) x 83.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, intact enamels, green oxidation evident on the portrait on the obverse centrepiece and the crown suspension, original ribbon with horizontal pinback, near extremely fine. In its cardboard box of issue, great coat-of-arms of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia above "Royal Yugoslav Commemorative WAR CROSS 1941-45" in gold-coloured ink on the lid with metal edges, inside with a gold-coloured fabric lined medal bed, scuffing evident on the edges, box also near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Royal Yugoslav Commemorative War Cross 1941-1945 institution date is undetermined and is the last medal established by King Peter II in exile after the Second World War. It was awarded to Chetnik (Partisans) Detachments serving in Yugoslavia from 1941 to 1945.
