Württemberg, Kingdom. A Karl-Olga Medal for Merit in the Red Cross, Bronze Grade

(Bronzene Karl-Olga-Medaille). Instituted 16 June 1889 by King Karl and Queen Olga. (1889-1916 issue). Constructed of bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing raised and rightward-facing profiles of King Karl and Queen Olga, circumscribed by names and titles, topped by a red enameled Geneva Cross, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS ROTE KREUZ” (“FOR MERIT IN THE RED CROSS”), circumscribed by an inscription of “VON DER PROTEKTORIN DES WÜRTT. SANITÄTSVERDEINS VOM ROTEN KREUZ” (“FROM THE PROTECTOR OF THE WÜRTTEMBERG RED CROSS MEDICAL ASSOCIATION”), unmarked, measuring 27.96 mm in diameter, weighing 11.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.
