Description
This sword features a nickel-plated steel blade, magnetic, with a dull tip. Both sides of the blade have a fuller running two-thirds the length of the blade, beginning one-third of the way from the tip to the just above the ricasso, the blade unmarked. It exhibits surface wear and contact marks overall from active use, along with rust and wear evident on the tip, measuring 850 mm in length. The blade is embedded into the hilt and is firm to it, with an oval dark brown leather washer surrounding the blade and resting upon the guard. The guard is iron, magnetic and incorporates a voided design, with a circular thumb quillon, the guard exhibiting surface rust throughout. The grip is wrapped in black finished leather and incorporates seven strands of copper wire in the recessed areas, each of which consists of a pair of twisted copper wire. The grip is finished with a pommel that is topped by a prominent button, the entire sword inclusive of its blade and handle measuring 1,000 mm in length. The accompanying scabbard has a stiff wooden-framed body wrapped in smooth dark brown finished leather, stitched along the seam on the reverse, with an additional two-pronged leather strap wrapped around the locket that incorporates a vertical strap on its reverse, the locket finished with an oval metal throat at the opening, the chape without any fittings. It exhibits extensive peeling and separation at the closed (chape) end, especially along the seam, as does the area beside the locket, along with wear, scuffing and discolouration overall, the scabbard measuring 870 in length. Fair.
