Portugal, Republic. An Order of the Republic, Grand Cross Set

 (Ordem do Mérito). The sash badge, a multi-piece construction, silver gilt with blue, white and red enamels, the obverse features a central five point star on a blue field encircled by the white ring inscribed BEM MERECER, the reverse features the coat of arms of Portugal and surrounded inscription REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA, suspending laurel wreath and elongated loop with floral designs, measuring at 52.2 mm (w) x 81.7 mm (h- inclusive of its wreath suspension), marked on wreath suspension and loop with silver mark, worn on a replacement near correct sash badge, enamels intact, minor wear, extremely fine. 

A Breast Star, multi-piece construction, gilt with blue and white enamels, silver gilt centrepiece ring,  the reverse features a vertical pin marked with a silver mark, measures 63.3 mm (w) x 63.3 mm (h), enamels intact, extremely fine.
