(Ordem Militar de Cristo). Instituted in 1917. In silver gilt, a large red enamelled cross with white center, reverse mirrors the obverse, suspended from a floral patterned loop and worn on a full length red neck ribbon, measures 42.8 mm (w) x 65.1 mm (h), weighs 29.5 grams, reverse of the loop has been handscratched 28-5-56, enamels intact, in better than extremely fine condition.
The Star, featuring smooth silver rays with angled tips, the obverse medallion features a white and red enamelled cross on a white field, encircled by a gilt wreath, the reverse offers a single vertical pin, central cartouche marked FREDERICO DA COSTA, measures 73.6 mm (w) x 73.3 mm (h), weighs 54.91 grams, minor tarnish and wear, intact but discoloured white enamels in the center, pin and catch functional, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in original case of issue, burgundy exterior, interior silk lid marked Frederico Costa LISBOA, red velvet medal base with ribbon and pin compartments, measures 98 mm (w) x 245 mm (h) x 42 mm (d), lid slightly off set, function hinge and clasp, scuffing to corners and edges, very fine.
