Description
(Eechelaafkrounenuerden). Instituted December 29th, 1841 by King Wilhelm II. (c. 1900). Consisting of a Cross Pattée in silver with white enameled arms, both sides feature a central green enameled medallion inscribed with a crowned “W” in silver gilt, surrounded by a silver ring, suspended from a pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period-original neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 50.1 mm (w) x 56.5 mm (l), weighing 39.22 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden core, with a lightly textured blue faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed in gilt, the interior of the lid lined with a cotton-silk textured fabric, embossed “Fibru, Brussels” in gilt, with a functional exterior metal hinge, intact interior hinge cover, an functional push-button release, with an off-white felt bed for secure placement of the award, measuring 80 mm (w) x 150 mm (l), the enamels very well preserved, in overall extremely fine condition.
