Description

(Orden Azad Hind der Provisorischen Regierung Freies Indien). Constructed of silvered tombak with gilt and enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed starburst, bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a gilded and leftward-facing Bengal tiger, surrounded by a ring of white enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “AZAD HIND” join by clusters of green enameled laurel leaves, the reverse topped by an integral loop with a suspension ring retaining an original full length neck ribbon, the reverse maker marked “RUDOLF SOUVAL, WIEN VII”, measuring 60.27 mm (w) x 60.49 mm (h), weighing 31.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
