(Russische Freiwillige Erinnerungsabzeichen für die Teilnahme an der Schlacht um Rschew). Constructed of a silvered brass alloy, the obverse consisting of a vaulted Panzer IV, bearing a central cut-out letter “F”, perforated at cardinal points with dual eyelets for sew-on attachment, unmarked, measuring 98 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Helmut Weitze Militarische Antiquitäten dated 13 May 2014, demonstrating minor scratching throughout the base metal, a scarce honour badge worn by Russian and other eastern volunteers attached to Panzer units during the pivotal Battles of Rzhev from January 1942 until March 1943 (where the Red Army suffered such catastrophic losses that the engagements came to be known as the "Rzhev Meat Grinder"), in near extremely fine condition.
