Germany, Wehrmacht. A First and Second War Medal Bar to a Decorated Combat Veteran

(Ordensschnalle). An interesting medal bar for a decorated Austro-Hungarian First World War combatant who subsequently rendered service with the Wehrmacht during the Second World War, featuring:

1. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crosse swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, measuring 48.00 mm (w) x 50.05 mm (H), in extremely fine condition.

2. An Austrian Medal for Bravery, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 31.15 mm in diameter, in better than very fine condition.

3. A Karl Troop Cross, constructed of feinzink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 28.96 mm (w) x 33.66 mm (h), demonstrating minor surface oxidation, in near extremely fine condition.

4. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, unmarked, measuring 38.11 mm (w) x 42.74 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

5. A Hungarian War Commemorative Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 37.10 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

All suspended from a 110 mm-long bar with a zink core, horizontal pinback, and grey wool liner, unmarked, in extremely fine condition.
