Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, Third Pattern Fluted Pin Variant by Friedrich Linden

Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, overlaying a magnetic metal backplate, flanked on each side by four rays and four leaves with two acorns, the reverse with a crimped hinge and fluted banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from a crimped base, designer marked “W. PEEKHAUS, BERLIN” and maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.44 mm (w) x 25.98 mm (h), weighing 32.8 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of silver finish to the base metal and a period repair to the hinge, a late-war third pattern example in very fine condition.
