Germany, Third Reich. A Parade-Mounted Medal Bar For Second World War Service

(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar for Second World War service featuring two decorations, consisting of:

1. An Iron Cross 1939 Second Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse) Reinstituted September 1st, 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of iron and silver on a fixed loop and swivel loop for suspension, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, measuring 44.7 mm (w) x 45.1 mm (l). 

2. A Sudetenland Anschluss Medal. (Sudetenland Medaille). Instituted October 18th, 1938. (1938-1940 issue). A round bronze medal, on a fixed loop and ring for suspension, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of a broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised date of “1. Oktober 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer” (“One People, One Nation, One Leader”), unmarked, measuring 32.1 mm in diameter.

Both awards are parade-mounted onto a medal bar featuring a non-magnetic zink core, a dark blue wool backer, and a functional horizontal pinback, measuring approximately 70 mm (w) x 50 mm (l), a fine grouping, in extremely fine condition.
