Germany, Luftwaffe. A Transport and Glider Clasp, Refurbished Example, by C.E. Juncker

(Frontflugspange für Transport- und Luftlandeflieger). Constructed of tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika while in mid-flight, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, the reverse with a single visible rivet, with a barrel hinge and tapering horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, measuring 76.40 mm (w) x 25.33 mm (h), weighing 21.1 grams, demonstrating issues consistent with age and refurbishment, including the loss of the eagle centrepiece exposing the underlying rivet on the obverse, replacement of the hinge pin with an ill-fitting substitute, loss of a pendant with replacement solder visible, bending of the catch, and near-total loss of finish throughout the base metal rendering original grade indeterminate, a restored example in very fine condition.
