Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Mint Auxiliary Cruiser War Badge, with Case, by C.E. Juncker

(Kriegsabzeichen für Hilfskreuzer mit Etui). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central depiction of a Viking longship sailing across the Northern Hemisphere, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, using the firm’s Variation 2 design, measuring 44.24 mm (w) x 57.08 mm (h), weighing 32.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction and retaining an original paper liner, unmarked, measuring 52 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 10 mm (h), a striking and rare set which is impossible to upgrade, in mint condition.
