(Kriegsmarine Meterstab mit Etui). Constructed of stainless steel, the obverse featuring a sloping edge marked with measurements gradated at intervals of 1 centimeter to an overall length of 100 centimeters, with millimeters marks in between edge numeral, rivets with two brass grip studs featuring serrated edges, stamped with a Kriegsmarine acceptance mark and maker’s mark of “ED. SPRENGER, BERLIN” for the noted manufacturer of Wehrmacht optical and cartographical equipment, bearing an additional hand-etched inscription of “1 METRE @ 20°CD”, secreted within its original storage case, constructed of a multi-piece lacquered wooden frame, featuring a retractable lid opening with three brass hinges secured in place with magnetic metal rivets, closing with three functional brass hooks, the interior of the lid bearing a fully-intact Sprenger label and retaining one of two padded posts meeting the studs, with the storage compartment retaining a grey felt liner, the case measuring 155.5 cm (w) x 9.5 cm (l) x 5 cm (h), some denting is visible to one end of the of the measurement side of the stick and the case demonstrates minor exterior scratching and moderate mothing to the liner, a superb example of Kriegsmarine field equipment in near extremely fine condition.
