Germany, Heer. A Panzer Troops Overseas Cap for Officer Ranks

(Heer Schiffchen für Offiziere der Panzertruppe). A well-preserved Heer Panzer Troops overseas cap for Officer ranks, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. Both the crown and frontal section of the walls are trimmed with silver aluminum wire piping. The crown is also flanked by ventilation holes which have had their grommets removed and subsequently been closed with hand stitching. Affixed to the peak is an insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 30 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the cap also features an insignia in the form of a black rayon diamond bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 35 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece slate-grey rayon liner. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 27 cm (l) x 10.5 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. In addition to the close vents, the cap demonstrates minor material fatigue consistent with age and field wear, but remains in a near extremely fine condition.
