Description

(Dr. Fritz Todt-Preis, I. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 12 November 1943. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded zinc, the obverse features a German national eagle perched on top of a stylized banner bearing the raised inscription of “DR. FRITZ TODT”, in turn set above a Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) insignia in the form of a raised mobile swastika within a cogwheel. The reverse has a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch. It is unmarked, measuring 41.1 mm (w) x 65.2 mm (h), weighing 40.5 grams, with moderate loss of finish evident throughout, in very fine condition.
