Yugoslavia, Kingdom. A Commemorative War Cross 1941-1945

(Kraljevski jugoslavenski spomen ratni križ). Institution date undetermined. A Greek cross constructed of gilded silver with blue enameled arms with crossed sabers in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a gilded central medallion depicting the bust of King Peter II, surrounded by a white enameled ring dated “1941-45”, then surrounded by a red enameled ring, the reverse depicting the bust of Draza Mihailovic, circumscribed “In Memoriam” in capitalized lettering and dated “1941-45”, suspended from an affixed red enameled Yugoslav Royal Crown with red enameled accents, with a pierced ball and swivel ring suspension from its period original ribbon with a functional horizontal pinback assembly, silver hallmarked “925” for silver content, measuring 38.6 mm (w) x 53.6 mm (l), weighing 24.86 grams inclusive of its attached ribbon, with only light contact marks to the enamels, free of chips or cracks, with the gilt extremely well preserved, in overall near extremely fine condition.
