Russia, Imperial. A St. George Cross, IV Class

(Георгиевский крест 4-й степени). Instituted February 1807 by Tsar Alexander I. (1807-1917 issue). Constructed of silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing a central depiction of St. George slaying a dragon, the reverse bearing a central Cyrillic monogram of St. George (СГ/SG), the six o’clock arm bearing a grade of “4 СТЕП” (“IV CLASS”), the three and nine o’clock arms bearing an award number of “162058”, unmarked, measuring 34.25 mm (w) x 40.70 mm (h), weighing 10.7 grams, demonstrating sporadic nicks to the base metal and the loss of its suspension apparatus, in very fine condition.
