In bronze gilt, obverse illustrating the left-facing bust of the crowned Polish eagle and maker marked "SPINK LONDON", reverse illustrating a stylized figure of a man attached to an open parachute, flanked by "ARNHEM" at the left and "DRIEL" on the right, surrounded by the inscription "1 SAMODZIELNA BRYGADA SPADOCHRONOWA / 18-26 IX 1944", measuring 39.8 mm in diameter, spotting, scattered gilt wear, original ribbon, very fine.
Footnote: The 1st Independent Parachute Brigade Group was a large airborne unit of the Polish Armed Forces in the West, formed in Great Britain during the Second World War. Upon formation, it was assumed that the brigade was to take part in the battles in Poland. Eventually, it was used by the Allies in Operation Market Garden.
