Luxembourg, Kingdom. An Order of Civil and Military Merit of Adolph of Nassau, Grand Officer Set

(Ordre de Mérite civil et militaire d’Adolphe de Nassau). Instituted 1858. A Grand Officer set, consisting of a neck badge in silver and enamels, a white Maltese cross with ball finials, the obverse medallion features a crowned A monogram encircled by a blue ring inscribed VIRTUTE, the reverse medallion bears the dates 1292 1858, the cross is surmounted by a large crown, 46.4 mm (w) x 74.8 mm (h), worn on original neck ribbon, light enamel wear and chip to corners, gilt wear, in very fine condition.

The star of the order in silver, a four point star with central faceted rays with ball finials and smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a crowned A monogram encircled by a blue ring inscribed VIRTUTE, the reverse with a single vertical pin, measures 63.3 mm (w) x 62.0 mm (h), weighs 50.79 grams, enamel chip in obverse medallion, in very fine condition.

Contained in a case of issue, a blue leatherette exterior, silk and velvet interior, measures 130 mm (w) x 253 mm (h) x 40 mm (d), scuffing and tape marks on the exterior, clasp functional, in near very fine condition.
