(Didziojo Lietuvos Kunigaikscio Gedimino ordinas). Instituted in 1927. Type II (1930-1940), In silver gilt with red and white enamels, unmarked, measuring 48.8 mm (w) x 56.3 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, intact enamels, scattered gilt wear, very light contact, replacement full-length neck ribbon, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, exterior in a dark green and brown patterned exterior, Lithuanian coat-of-arms and marked "III." (Third Class) on the lid, inside lid in white cotton, padded and maker marked "HUGUENIN FRÈRES & CO. MEDAILLEURS LE LOCLE (SUISSE)", base with a recessed medal bed in black felt, measuring 94.8 mm (w) x 130 mm (h) x 29.5 mm (d), very light wear present on the corners on the exterior, wear evident in the fabric overlying the hinged area on the interior, case better than very fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas is the Lithuanian Presidential Award which was re-instituted to honour the citizens of Lithuania for outstanding performance in civil and public offices. Foreign nationals may also be awarded this Order. The Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas was instituted in 1928. It features the Columns of Gediminas, one of the national symbols of Lithuania.
