(Ordine Constantiniano di San Giorgio). Constructed of silver gilt, a circular medal featuring an Order’s insignia on the obverse, surrounded by typical Latin inscription on the outsider border, the reverse with the inscription BENEMERENTI encircled by two crossed laurel branches, measuring 29.55 mm (w) x 33.68 (h - inclusive of integral ball), with Italian assay mark denoting .925 silver fineness, presenting minor toned silver, suspended by original blue ribbon with prongs, very fine; accompanied by a hard-structure blue case with corrugated surfaces, interior lid in elegant blue silk with gilded maker’s firm of G. Guccione, Roma, with recessed bed in blue cotton, measuring 650 mm (w) x 220 mm (h) x 1130 mm (l), functional catch, minor wearing surfaces, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Constantinian Order of Saint George is an ancient and internationally Order of Knighthood which has been recognized to work for the glorification of the Cross, the propagation of the Faith, and the defence of the Holy Roman Church, to which it is strictly bound through special merits acquired in the East, and for which manifold evidences of gratitude and benevolence have been expressed by successive Supreme Pontiffs of the Roman Catholic Church.
