Greece, Kingdom. A Royal Order of St. George I, Grand Cross Sash Badge

(Βασιλικόν Τάγμα Γεωργίου Α). Instituted on January 16th, 1915 by King Constantine I. Civil Division.  A Grand Cross sash badge, constructed of gilded silver, consisting of a Latin cross with white enameled arms, with a laurel wreath in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, with a central medallion with a red field inscribed with the crowned Royal Cypher of George I, surrounded by a white enameled ring inscribed “ΙΣΧΥΣ ΜΟΥΗ ΑΓΑΠΗ ΤΟΥ ΛΑΟΥ” (The people’s love is my strength), the reverse is silver gilt with the dates the order was established in a ring (1915) and the years of the King’s reign 1863-1913, the badge is suspended from a large silver gilt crown using its period-original sash ribbon, measuring 47.6 mm (w) x 83.2 mm (l), weighing 49.66 grams, the red enamels central to the award delicately restored, in overall better than very fine condition.
