British War Medal (240139 PTE. G. LANG. 54-CAN.INF.); and Victory Medal (240139 PTE. G. LANG. 54-CAN.INF.). Mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, original ribbons, very dark patina on the BWM, edge nicks on the VM, contact marks, very fine.

Footnote: George Lang was born on September 2, 1895 in Hamilton, Ontario. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (240139) with the 205th Infantry Battalion "Hamilton Tiger Battalion", on March 8, 1916, at the age of 20, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Walter Lang of Hamilton, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Lineman. While in Canada, he was later transferred to the 164th Infantry Battalion "Halton and Dufferin Battalion", which was raised in the Counties of Halton and Dufferin, Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Orangeville under the authority of G.O. 151, December 2, 1915. The Battalion sailed April 11, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colnel P. Domville with a strength of 26 officers and 710 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 8th Reserve Battalion, with Private Lang subsequently transferred as a reinforcement to the 54th Infantry Battalion "Kootenay Battalion". He survived the war.
