Description

(Waffen-SS Einzel Kragenspiegel für Freiwillige). Constructed of black wool with a buckram core, the obverse bearing a machine-embroidered closed sunwheel-style mobile swastika or Celtic Cross wheel, the reverse showing classic Dachau-style white threading, unmarked, measuring 40 mm (w) x 55 mm (l), demonstrating minor material fatigue, in near extremely fine condition.

Footnote: While indisputably of period manufacture, the unit attribution for this collar tab is disputed, with historians variously claiming that it was intended for issue to French volunteers, or alternatively a Scandinavian (likely Danish) unit of the 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nordland.
