Germany, Der Stahlhelm. A 1931 Commemorative Service Badge, by Der Stahlhof

(Der Stahlhelm Diensteintrittsabzeichen 1931). Instituted 13 November 1933 by Franz Seldte. (1933-1939 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a black enameled medallion, overlaid by a raised Stahlhelm insignia, situated above a silvered date of “1931” topped by oak leaves, the reverse with a crimped hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from a circular plate, bearing a hand-etched unit code of “HA 470” and maker marked with the logo of Der Stahlhof, Magdeburg, measuring 30.54 mm in diameter, weighing 10.7 grams, demonstrating loss of silver finish to the base metal with some surface scratching to the enamels, in very fine condition.
