Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a cut-out mobile swastika, surrounding a central S-Boat cutting through waves, with its bow extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering horizontal pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from a circular plate, topped by a stabilizer demonstrating characteristic tool marks, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a third variation badge manufactured by Schwerin, Berlin, measuring 51.35 mm (w) x 59.85 mm (h), weighing 30.3 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish throughout the base metal, in very fine condition.
