Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, Unknown Maker Variant

(Kriegsabzeichen für den Küstenartillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from a rectangular plate, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a documented variant produced by an unknown manufacturer using the Förster & Barth design, measuring 40.62 mm (w) x 53.78 mm (h), weighing 22.4 grams, a late-war example in near extremely fine condition.
