Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular chain link wreath, surrounding a central blockade runner cutting through waves, with its bow overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a block hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 48.82 mm in diameter, weighing 37.0 grams, accompanied by a matching stick pin miniature, of identical construction, unmarked, measuring 25.80 mm in diameter, both secreted within their original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the interior with a dark blue rayon liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 105 mm (w) x 82 mm (l) x 24 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish throughout the decorations with some material fatigue visible to the case, a matching set in near extremely fine condition.
