In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
This is a fine Wehrmacht Heer (Army) “Deutsches Afrika Korps” ring, handcrafted in silver (marked “835” on the interior of the band). Depicted on the centerpiece of the ring is a mobile swastika (Hakenkreuz) with “DAK” vertically inscribed on its left side, and “1941” vertically inscribed on its right side. Above the swastika is the head of a palm, with its grassy base below. On both sides of the ring is a tropical scene, complete with a native African houses, a palm tree, and a sun with outward bursting rays. The ring measures 21.50 mm on the interior, and would fit a large-sized finger. Overall, this is a fine quality ring in better than very fine condition. (C:166)
Footnote: During the German occupation of Africa, Wehrmacht soldiers often purchased locally made rings and miscellaneous jewellery from natives. However, the German soldiers were often rotated due to extreme exhaustion in Africa, not allowing all Wehrmacht staff to purchase a souvenir ring in Africa. Often, wanting to commemorate their service in Africa, returning soldiers purchased commemorative rings, such as this one, in Germany. A tell-tale sign of German made rings is the “835” stamp on all jewellery, as was required by German law, to prove the silver content of the ring.
