Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Vice Admiral's Flag (Vizeadmiralsflagge)

Two white cotton fields sewn back-to-back, each side with a piece of black cotton in the shape of an elongated iron cross, the edges of the cross trimmed in white embroidery, a large black embroidered ball in the upper corner beside the hoist sleeve, designating this as a Vice Admiral's flag, white cotton hoist sleeve on the left side with an aluminum post fed through it, both ends of the post with a functioning magnetic metal clip for attachment onto a hoist line, reinforced stitching along all four edges, 218 mm x 220 mm, lightly soiled, intact stitching, better than very fine.

Footnote: The Kriegsmarine Vice Admiral's (Vizeadmiralsflagge)Flag was probably in use as early as 1867, certainly by the mid-1880s and has continued in use until today, except for the few years in which there was no German Navy, and for the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) from 1945 until 1990.
