Germany, DAF. A Kempten District Factory Flag

(Deutsche Arbeitsfront Betriebsfahne). A well-preserved Deutsche Arbeitsfront (German Labour Front/DAF) factory flag, constructed of a weather-hardened cotton twill cloth base, trimmed along three edges with a silver aluminum wire fringe (reflecting manufacture from 1937 onward), the upper hoist corners featuring double-sided triangular brown wool patches bearing chain-stitched white inscriptions of “KEMPTEN I” (presumably Kempten im Allgäu) above a factory code of “3”, overlaid by double-sided central DAF insignia executed in multi-piece black and white cotton and measuring 80 cm in diameter, the hoist edge retaining six aluminum suspension rings, each marked on the interior with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M3/27/37” for H.J. Schmidt & Söhne, Iserlohn, measuring 132 cm (l) x 118 cm (h), demonstrating moderate soiling throughout the base cloth and the loss of one suspension ring, in very fine condition.
