Germany, Wehrmacht. A Tank Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, Unmarked Steinhauer & Lück Variant

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Instituted December 20th, 1939. A fine example of this award, constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a elongated barrel hinge in a rectangular cutout, with a vertical round wire pin, and a flat wire catch soldered onto a supporting backplate, unmarked, but distinctively an example by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid due to the die flaw directly below the cannon on the reverse, measuring 42.2 mm (w) x 60.4 mm (l), weighing 33.75 grams, a fine example by this maker with the majority of its bronze finish remaining, in very fine condition.
