Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Service Awards

(Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of service awards, including:

1. A War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939” (“FOR WAR MERIT 1939”), unmarked, measuring 32.50 mm in diameter, weighing 13.9 grams, demonstrating moderate tarnishing and verdigris to the base metal, in very fine condition.

2. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronzed zink, on a replacement loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 47.69 mm (w) x 48.80 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, demonstrating total loss of finish with the remnants of a postwar gilt replacement finish evident, in fair condition.

3. A Wehrmacht 4-Year Long Service Award, constructed of magnetic metal on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “TREUE DIENSTE IN DER WEHRMACHT” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE WEHRMACHT”), the reverse bearing a wreathed number “4”, unmarked, measuring 30.34 mm in diameter, weighing 11.9 grams, in very fine condition, accompanied by a matching ribbon bar, presented on a 25 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, pinned with a Heer/Kriegsmarine device, unmarked, in better than very fine condition.

4. A Civil Service 25-Year Faithful Service Award, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black enameled swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 40.98 mm (w) x 45.60 mm (h), weighing 20.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), the ribbon is missing its pinback, in overall extremely fine condition.
