Germany, Imperial. An Attila for a Leutnant in a Prussian Hussar Regiment

(Preußen Attila für einen Leutnant im Husaren-Regiment). A well-preserved Prussian-issue Hussar Attila jacket, constructed of crushed dark blue wool cloth. It features a turned-down collar which is trimmed with silver aluminum wire piping interspersed with black threaded chevrons, with the piping extending down through the edges of the breast flaps. The shoulders are flanked by straps constructed of silver aluminum wire interspersed with black threaded chevrons, indicating a rank of Leutnant. Each measuring 35 mm (w) x 140 mm (l), the straps are secured in place with stitching at the shoulder seam, and with metal buttons on the inner edge. The cuff of each sleeve is ornately scalloped and similarly trimmed with silver wire piping. The breast flaps are decorated on each side with six looped silver aluminum wire corns, five of which are adorned with silvered brass rosettes. Further lengths of silver cord and metal rosettes decorate the back. A multi-piece black rayon cloth liner encompasses the interior, and transitions into white through the arms. A single pocket is set into the upper left breast. White ink handwritten inscriptions are visible on the back, and may indicate unit or depot information. Otherwise unmarked, the Attila measures approximately 44 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 58 cm, and an overall length of 68 cm (when folded on a flat surface). Demonstrating minor, age-appropriate material fatigue throughout, but with no notable damage, it remains in a better than very fine condition.
