Description

(Patriotischer Erinnerungsteller). Constructed of glazed white porcelain, the obverse bearing a blue underglaze German national eagle clutching dual circular laurel leaf wreaths, surrounding finely-detailed portraits of Max Immelmann and Oswald Boelcke, with the lower edge of each wreath overlaid by a banner bearing respective surnames, in turn situated above a banner bearing a the logo of the German Air Fleet Association, all circumscribed by an inscription of “DEM GEDENKEN UNSERER BEIDEN HELDEN” (“IN MEMORY OF OUR TWO HEROES”), the reverse perforated with two eyelets through which is looped an original drawstring for display, retaining a paper label bearing a handwritten gift dedication, maker marked with the logo of Rosenthal GmbH, Selb, measuring 23.5 cm in diameter, demonstrating minor flecking and scratching but with no evident chips or cracks, a superb period display piece in extremely fine condition.
