(Ordensschanlle). A fine medal bar to a distinguished combatant of the Franco-Prussian War featuring six decorations, including:
1. An 1870 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1870”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o'clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, without visible marks, measuring 40.96 mm (w) x 44.33 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition; featuring a 25th Jubilee Clasp, constructed of a silver alloy, the obverse consisting of three overlaid oak leaves defaced by a raised number “25”, measuring 26.26 mm (w) x 18.50 mm (h), demonstrating minor tarnishing, in near extremely fine condition.
2. A Prussian Officer’s Long Service Award, 1855-1875 pattern, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, the reverse bearing a central raised number “25” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 38.88 mm (w) x 43.67 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A War Commemorative Medal of 1870-71 for Combatants, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with “PARIS”, “MONT VALÉRIEN”, and “STASSBURG” campaign clasps, unmarked, measuring 30.13 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor tarnishing, in better than very fine condition.
4. A Kaiser Wilhelm I Centenary Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.35 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
5. A Schaumburg-Lippe Military Merit Medal, 1870 pattern, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with combatant’s clasp, the obverse bearing a raised monogram of Prince Georg Wilhelm, the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “FÜR MILITAIR VERDIENST” (“FOR MILITARY MERIT”), situated above a pair of crossed swords, unmarked, measuring 29.94 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor edge bruising, a non-engraved version in near extremely fine condition.
6. A Romanian Order of the Crown, Civil Division, Officer’s Cross, constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with rosette, consisting of a Cross Pattée with red and white enameled arms joined through the quadrants by stylized monograms of King Carol I, the obverse bearing a central red enameled medallion overlaid by a raised crown, situated within a white enameled ring bearing an inscription of “PRIN NOI INSINE - 14. MARTIE 1881”, the reverse bearing a central red enameled medallion overlaid by a gilt date of “10. MAIU”, situated within a white enameled ring bearing dates “1866 - 1877 - 1881”, without visible marks, measuring 41.04 mm (w) x 42.83 mm (h), demonstrating minor chipping and flecking to the enamels, in better than very fine condition.
All suspended from a 195 mm-long bar with a trapezoidal bronze core, horizontal pinback, and red wool liner, unmarked, demonstrating significant soiling to the ribbons and some mothing to the reverse liner, in very fine condition.
