Description
Often called the “Coupe-chou” (“cabbage cutter”) by soldiers, this short sword presents a characteristically heavy and solid brass handle with integrated guard, scrolls on either flank, and a double edged blade, likely of German manufacture, engraved script writing above guard, some light pitting, produced for Artillery troops, Engineers as well as NCOs, blade measures 48.5 cm in length, and total sword length of 63.5 cm, accompanied by original scabbard in black leather and matching brass fittings, as well as small section of leather hanger, overall very fine.
