Description
1. Spain, Franco Regime. A 1942 War Cross for Corporals and Soldiers, Cruz de Guerra para Cabos y Soldados. Instituted 26 January 1942 by decree of the Spanish State. A bronze-gilt cross pattée with centrally stippled texture and applied royal crown, with crossed swords between the arms signifying combat service. This version is awarded exclusively to corporals and soldiers for distinguished conduct in the field. Reverse plain. Suspended from a silk ribbon in blue with central white stripe, mounted with a plain gilt bar device and vertical pinback. Measures 39.1 mm across. Minor wear to gilding and edge toning on reverse; ribbon shows fraying from age. Very fine condition
2. Belgium, Kingdom. Croix de Guerre 1914–1918 (Oorlogskruis) – Bronze cross pattée with crossed swords, obverse medallion with lion rampant surrounded by laurel wreath, reverse bearing royal monogram of King Albert I. On original red ribbon with yellow stripes. Good very fine.
3. France, Republic. A Médaille Militaire, Third Republic, 1870 Model, Médaille Militaire, Troisième République, modèle de 1870. Instituted 22 January 1852 by decree of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte. Silvered bronze medal with laurel wreath border and gilt central medallion. Obverse displays a left-facing bust of Marianne, surrounded by a deep blue enamel band inscribed “RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE • 1870”. Reverse features raised gilt inscription “VALEUR ET DISCIPLINE” within matching blue enamel band. Suspension features a trophy of arms with crossed cannons, sabres, and flags. Suspended from a yellow silk ribbon with green edge stripes. Medal measures 28.5 mm (diameter), total height approx. 52.2 mm. In very fine condition; some enamel wear and oxidation to silver finish; ribbon retains original fold and integrity, with small pinhole to reverse.
4. Ordre de Léopold II, Officier avec Glaives. Instituted 24 August 1900 by King Leopold II. Officer Grade breast badge with swords (Military Division). Constructed in silver and white enamel with green oak and laurel wreath between the arms of the white-enameled five-pointed Maltese cross, with silver ball finials. Obverse medallion presents the lion rampant of Belgium surrounded by the motto “L’Union fait la Force” in red enamel on gilt. Reverse medallion features the royal cypher “LR” (Léopold Roi) on red enamel surrounded by a gilt laurel wreath. Badge surmounted by a finely detailed silver royal crown and crossed swords. Suspended from its original purple officer’s ribbon with central rosette. Badge measures 62.1 mm (h) × 39.3 mm (w). In very fine condition, with some fading to the ribbon and minor wear to enamel.
