In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Croix du Combattant Volontaire 1914-1918). Instituted in 1935. In bronze, cornucopia hallmarked and marked "BR" (bronze) on the reverse, measuring 33.8 mm (w) x 34 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, original ribbon with dual prong pinback, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Volunteer Combatant's Cross recognizes those who have volunteered to serve on the front in a combat unit during the First World War. When the 1914-1918 Commemorative War Medal was established, it was anticipated that a clasp bearing "ENGAGÉ VOLONTAIRE" (Enlisted Volunteer) would be worn on its ribbon, for those who had freely and voluntarily enlisted in the French Armed Forces for combat service. This clasp was produced, however it was short lived due to parliament demanding the establishment of a special insignia to distinguish the special merit of the voluntary combatant. The Act of July 4, 1935 created the Croix du Combattant Volontaire, designated for those who volunteered to serve on the front in a combat unit during the Great War.
